What will happen next? We will review your request for an In-District transfer and begin reviewing your records to determine if you meet the following criteria:
When can I expect a decision regarding my request for an In-District Transfer? All decisions will be completed and communicated to parents by June 30, 2023.
How will I be contacted? You will be contacted via the e-mail provided.
Who should I contact if I do not receive a response to my transfer request or have questions? If you have not received a response by June 30, 2023, or still have questions following the submission of your in-district transfer request, please email Section504department@fultonschools.org or call 470-254-2306.
If a transfer is granted, will my student still receive bus transportation from Fulton County Schools? No. Parents must provide transportation to the requested school.
If a transfer is granted, do I need to apply each year? No, once a transfer request has been approved by a school system, the student must be allowed to complete all grades at a school. For example, if a student was granted a transfer request to a public middle school for 6th grade, he/she must be allowed to attend the school through the eighth grade. Once the student completes middle school and if the parent/guardian wishes to have the student attend a different high school, the parent/guardian would need to submit another public school choice transfer request to the local school system at that time. If the student returns to their neighborhood school, the SB-47 transfer is negated and the parent must apply again at the next application window.
I am a Fulton County resident. I want to apply to attend a public school in a neighboring county. Can I use this same process? No. You must apply to the neighboring county of choice.
I am not a resident of Fulton County. I want to apply to attend a Fulton County public school. Can I use this same process? Yes. Fulton County Schools does accept or grant transfer requests for students who live outside of district boundaries.
Is there a process to appeal the decision if my request for an In-District transfer is not granted? Answer: No.
